Lehigh Acres, FL (March 2, 2021) – Around 9 a.m. on Monday morning, March 1, a teen was killed in a mini-bike crash at a Lehigh Acres intersection.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident took place at the intersection of 7th Street and Gordon Avenue. A 13-year-old boy was riding his bike on the shoulder of the roadway when, for reasons that are still being investigated, a pickup truck collided with the bike.

The 13-year-old was immediately rushed to Lee Memorial Hospital. He was pronounced dead while there.

The 47-year-old man driving the pickup truck stayed at the scene of the accident. He and his 3-year-old passenger were uninjured.

The roadway was blocked for an extended period of time in the area of the intersection.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
