Boynton Beach, FL (March 1, 2021) – Around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, a man was killed in a pedestrian crash in Boynton Beach.

According to Boynton Beach Police, the accident happened at the intersection of Congress Avenue and Southwest 30th Avenue. A pedestrian identified as 54-year-old James Benson stopped his Chrysler so that he could fix a piece of furniture that he had strapped onto his car. Due to the accident, a Chevrolet Colorado driven by 37-year-old Otsheel Rene was unable to stop in time and also slammed into the vehicle.

Benson was the only person injured due to the accident and was taken to Delray Medical Center as a trauma alert. He tragically succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning, March 1.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
