Orlando, FL (April 7, 2021) – Around 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday night, April 6, a teen was killed in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Orlando.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of FL-408 around the area of Chickasaw Trail. At the time, a 2018 Chevy Cruz was headed east when a southbound Yamaha motorcycle was headed south. The driver of the Cruz ran a red light and struck the motorcycle at a high rate of speed.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. Both the 18-year-old and 16-year-old on the motorcycle were ejected. The 18-year-old male was pronounced deceased and the 16-year-old female was seriously injured and hospitalized.
The pair from inside the Cruz got out of the vehicle and fled the scene. Police are looking for those responsible for the accident.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
